Mutter (“we,” “us,” or “our”) takes your privacy seriously. This policy describes what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@hellomutter.com.

2. What We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Account information: email address and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth)
• Dog profile: your dog's name, breed, age, and personality quiz responses
• Conversation history: messages exchanged in the chat (stored to maintain context across sessions)
• Memories: facts the system extracts from your conversations to personalise future chats
• Avatar images: photos you upload or AI-generated portraits you create
• Dog Park posts: any posts and photos you choose to share publicly

Information collected automatically:

• Usage analytics: anonymized events (e.g., quiz completions, chat messages sent) collected via PostHog to help us improve the product
• Session cookies: used only to keep you logged in

3. What We Do NOT Do

• We do not sell your data to anyone, ever
• We do not share your conversations with third parties
• We do not use your conversations to train AI models
• We do not read your personal conversations
• We do not share your personal information for advertising purposes

4. How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your account
• To generate AI-powered personality profiles and chat responses for your dog
• To display your Dog Park posts to other users
• To understand how the product is used and where to improve it
• To send you important account-related emails (e.g., password reset)

5. How Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored securely in Supabase. Conversations are private to your account only. Row-level security means only you can access your data — not other users, and not us during normal operation.

6. AI and Your Conversations

Mutter uses the Claude API by Anthropic to power conversations. Your dog's profile and conversation messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Anthropic does not use API conversations for model training. Your dog's personality is built entirely from your quiz answers — conversations are context only.

We also use fal.ai for optional AI avatar generation. Image prompts are sent to fal.ai to produce illustrations; uploaded photos are not retained by fal.ai beyond the generation request.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted services to operate Mutter:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage
• Anthropic — AI language model for dog chat
• fal.ai — optional AI image generation for avatars
• Resend — transactional email (password resets, account notifications)
• PostHog — anonymous product analytics
• Vercel — hosting and deployment

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them if you have concerns.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law. Conversation history is kept to provide continuity between chat sessions and may be deleted at any time from your account settings.

9. Public Content

Content you post to the Dog Park is visible to other Mutter users. Please do not post sensitive personal information in public posts. You can delete your own Dog Park posts at any time.

10. Children's Privacy

Mutter is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings
• Manually delete individual memories from your dog's profile at any time
• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Opt out of analytics by using a browser that blocks tracking

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the app. Continued use of Mutter after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
